Finance lead for Canadian branded division.  Successful start-up of commercial operation in Canada (first commercial sale in Jan 2012).  As a member of the Canadian Leadership team, contributed to the strategic development and implementation of the business plan.  Guided the organization through all finance matters.  Provided business decision support to the regional General Manager.  Broad scope of authority including executive guidance for operational finance, accounting, contracts/procurement, taxation, and treasury.

  • Spearheaded all financial aspects for transformation of Actavis Specialty Pharmaceuticals into a $170+ million commercial company.
  • Built and lead a Finance department to support the Canadian Brand business
  • Designed, created and implemented a financial reporting infrastructure to support rapid growth from startup to $170M+ in revenues.
  • Canadian integration of Finance function for multiple acquisitions realizing $7M+ in synergies (2012 Actavis Group; 2013 Warner Chilcott; 2014 Forest Labs; 2015 Allergan).
  • Forecasted tax issues and outline favourable plans to minimize taxes (transfer price, tax loss utilization).

Reported directly to CFO.  Managed budgeting/forecasting and monthly financial reporting process for 4 Canadian businesses with over 40 departments. Calculated and prepared the quarterly tax provision for Canadian operations (4 legal entities).

Senior Accountant, KPMG LLP (2006-2010)

Developed audit plans that addressed GAAS using KPMG’s proprietary CaseWare implementation.  Coordinated planning and performance of audit engagements.  Developed productive working relationships with clients by assisting them with their research and analysis of IFRS, US GAAP, and ASPE.  Communicated performance improvement observations and internal control deficiencies discovered during the course of the engagement to client.  Experienced in the identification and testing effectiveness of internal controls as required in financial statement audits and SOX (ICOFR) engagements.  Clients included multinational public and private companies in finance, manufacturing, distribution, logistics, automotive, construction, real estate, pharmaceuticals and energy.

Lead developer on an abstraction layer for market data offerings for a global investment bank.  Optimized, designed and implemented new algorithms and business modules within the software suite to improve performance (sub-second response) and create a more versatile, highly configurable application.

Designed, developed and integrated web-enabled, wireless, client-server, database driven warehouse management applications in order to improve inventory accuracy and reduce costs.  Involved in all aspects of application development including problem identification and analysis, requirements gathering, evaluation of solution alternatives, project management, design and implementation, system and client acceptance testing, integration into the existing framework, system deployment, documentation and user training.
